Payoneer – An internet payment journey – Part 3

In part’s 1 and 2 I went through the beginning of the process of acquiring a US-based credit card (if you haven’t read them, this post probably won’t mean much so they are a better place to start) and left you, dear reader, waiting with baited breath (Yeah yeah I know, you’d almost forgotten really) for the outcome. Well, the card arrived somewhere around the 20th of last month, so it good time compared to estimates. That’s when the real fun started. Well, fun being a fairly loose term here… Once activated, the card made the funds I’d already credited available. However, when I went to load it to Hulu …

Payoneer – An internet payment journey – Part 1

Well, “journey” might be overselling it a little, but I’m not yet at the end so who knows! Basically I’m setting myself up with a CreditCard via Payoneer; here lies the story of what I had to do and how it all worked out…

Life, code and random ramblings…

Everyone comes into your life for a reason. It may not always be the reason we thought or might have hoped, but there is a reason regardless. The best we can do is enjoy what we can and treasure that person while we can, as we never know when for some reason they will stop being a part of your life. Treasure today, treasure your friends, whether they fit in your life the way you wanted or not. Life’s too short to dwell on what might have been.

2012 is well underway…

So yet again I’ve shown a severe lack of motivation to update this thing for far too long… But after someone reading through a lot of the post history fairly recently I thought maybe it’s time to tidy a few things up and maybe even put some new (if thoroughly boring to most) content on here.

Insurance Pains

We’ve all heard the insurance claim horror stories I’m sure. What seems simple and straightforward, turns into an absolute clusterf**k once the chips are down! Here’s my story so far; lets hope common sense prevails!

39 days to go…

So it’s now 39 days until I head for Aussie (all going to plan). So now I’m just doing a little setup so that if I get sufficiently motivated I can update the few of you who read this stuff on how the trips going. As well as the usual updates to base code and tiding up of plugins, I’ve now hooked things up so that hopefully this will now bombard facebook with whatever I post as well, just to help the couple that tend to read things on here in the loop. =P Finally got the new passport today (yes, a rather essential piece of the puzzle). Pitty it’s …

Music is like air, how can you live without breathing?

So tonight I watched “The Boat That Rocked”. Best movie I’ve watched in a long time!! Which to be fair given I’m a bit of a music fan it’s not too great a surprise in hindsight. But anyway, it got me in a good mood, which according to a couple of people is a change to how I’ve been over the last few days. Now the story behind that is too long, tragic and boring to bother typing out, but … meh. When the movie finished I rapidly vented my good mood onto facebook: Sometimes, even when things seem colossally shit, all you can do is put on some good …

Drop the Rate Mate – What’s it all about?

Ok, so some of you may have seen my 5 seconds (if you combine the various recordings) of fame, and plenty of you are having fun giving me grief about it. For those who missed it, TV3’s piece is here and TV1’s piece is here. So, what gets me into a suit and onto national TV you ask? Well it’s a new campaign called “Drop the Rate Mate”, and basically it’s a movement lending its support and allowing the public to better support the current draft recommendation issued by the Commerce Commission on Mobile Termination Rates. The campaign was launched on the 11th of August 2009 and initially there are …

Cafe lunches.

It has 2 b said, some cafes do good lunches! Im currently blogging from my phone from The Olive Tree cafe in Havelock North, having a flat white and some very nice spicy thai pumpkin soup (and as a lover of spicy food i can say it isnt a lie!). Good food, good coffee, and i have 2 admit im rather partial to the view too. =P There are certainly worse ways 2 spend your lunch break! =]
